The Governor of Ondo State, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, has handed over the affairs of the state to his deputy, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, as he embarks on medical leave.

The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Mr Olamide Oladiji, confirmed this development on Tuesday when he read a letter from the Governor.

He informed his colleagues that Mr Akeredolu wrote a letter to the parliament to inform them of his intention to go on a 21-day leave for medical attention outside the country.

According to the Speaker, the Governor has directed Mr Oladiji to act as the Governor of Ondo State from June 7, 2023, to July 6, 2023.

There had been controversies over the health of Mr Akeredolu, forcing the state government to refute rumours of his death some days ago.
