Members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) comprising the 2022 Batch C and 2023 Batch A, under the Charity Community Development Service (CDS) group in Alimosho Local Government on Thursday, July 20, put smiles on the faces of children of the Finger of God Orphanage in Ikotun, Lagos.
The corp members, undergoing their mandatory one-year-long service to their fatherland, reached out to the kids as part of their efforts to have a positive impact on their community of service.
Donated items included packs of spaghetti, noodles, tubers of yams, condiments, and vegetable oil, among others.
Speaking on the donation, the President of the Charity CDS Group, Mr Abraham James Juwon, lauded the initiative and thanked his fellow corp members for their roles in carrying out the project.
“This is a thing of joy. I am so happy that we can do this. Part of what we do as corp members is to make an impact, and I am happy that we have done this today,” he said.
This was echoed by the Representative of NYSC, Alimosho Local Government, Mrs Grace Iwuoha, who came on behalf of the Local Government Inspector.
“We are happy that our corp members did this. We find ourselves in a society that needs our helping hand, and as our motto says, Service and Humility, the display today has been nothing but short of that.”
The financial secretary of the group, Ms Theresa Salawudeen, also thanked her colleagues for doing their duties and fulfilling their oath to ensure that the project was a successful one.
Showing his appreciation for the donations, a coordinator at the orphanage, Mr Idowu Cosmos, on behalf of the management, thanked the corps members and NYSC for the relief materials, saying that the items would be used to ensure the survival of the children.
Please allow me to express my gratitude for the extra time and effort you guys put into this project. It was not easy, but I knew I could count on you guys, our work on this project is impressive.
Great one, I really appreciate everyone of you
