The Governor-elect of Anambra State, Mr Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has been congratulated by the Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP) on his victory.

On Tuesday, November 9, 2021, Mr Soludo, a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), was declared winner of the Anambra State governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He was announced as the winner of the exercise after the electoral body concluded the Ihiala local government poll after it was declared inconclusive last Saturday.

Anambra State has 21 local councils and at the election, last Saturday, only 20 of the local governments were announced and due to violence, the Ihiala council was moved to Tuesday.

Before then, Mr Soludo had won 18 of the councils and yesterday, he picked the 19th, making INEC declare him as the winner of the poll.

The CNPP, in a statement on Wednesday, congratulated the world-renowned economist and again praised INEC for the transparent conduct of the polls and allowing the wish of the people to prevail.

In the statement signed by its Secretary-General, Mr Willy Ezugwu, the group counselled both the winner and the other contestants to join hands to turn the fortunes of the state around for the benefit of all the residents.

“The contestants should accept the outcome and avoid the temptation of needless post-elections litigations that have become a trademark in Anambra State.

“The CNPP believes that the majority has had their way while the minority has also had their say; that is democracy.

“While we congratulate the winner, we urge him to constitute a unity government to speed up developments in Anambra State.

“Prof. Soludo has all it takes to make Anambra State the Dubai of Africa he has always dreamt of.

“Congratulations on your well-deserved victory,” the CNPP stated.
