The health status of a former Director General of the Peter Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Organisation, Mr Doyin Okupe, is causing anxiety among his political followers.

The former presidential spokesman was said to have been critically ill after a surgery at an undisclosed hospital, and has been off the radar.

On Friday morning, there were rumours that the medical doctor turned politician may have died at the age of 72, but this has not been confirmed or denied by his family.

Born on March 22, 1952, in Iperu, Ogun State, Mr Okupe has been an active politician, who attempted to govern his state while he was a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

He was a Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to former President Olusegun Obasanjo and a Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to former President Goodluck Jonathan.
