The policeman suspected to have killed a Lagos-based lawyer, Mrs Bolanle Raheem, on Christmas day at Ajah Roundabout, Mr Drambi Vandi, has been remanded in prison for 30 days.
He was brought before the Chief Magistrate of the Yaba Magistrate Court, Justice C.A. Adedayo, on Friday, December 30, 2022, by the Attorney-General of Lagos State, Mr Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN).
At the court today, Mr Onigbanjo filed a remand request pursuant to Section 264 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law 2015 (As amended).
He was the suspect needs to be kept at a correctional centre for at least 30 days pending further investigation by the police.
The prayer, which came with one count of murder contrary to Section 223 of the Criminal Law Ch. C17 Vol. 3 Laws of Lagos State, 2015, was granted by Justice Adedayo.
The Chief Magistrate ordered the remand of the suspect, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and directed the police to forward the duplicate case file to the office of the DPP and adjourned the case to January 30, 2023, for the review of the remand order and report on the legal advice by the DPP.
ASP Vandi was suspended by the Police Service Commission (PSC) after a recommendation from the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Usman Alkali Baba.
