The management of Channels Television has promised to look into the allegation of assault against one of its reporters.

On Sunday, a video emerged on social media showing a woman, Mrs Ifeanyinwa Angbo, claiming that to be assaulted by her husband, Mr Pius Angbo.

Mrs Angbo said in the video that she is a medical doctor and has been married to Mr Angbo from Benue State for six years.

According to her, Mr Angbo, a journalist and the correspondent of Channels Television in Imo State, has turned her to a punching bag, making her life miserable in the marriage.

She claimed in the video she recorded after the alleged assault by her husband that her only offence was to advise him to stop spending lavishly on women, who ostensibly would be his concubines.

She further said the reason for this piece of advice was to enable him to cater for his four children as his spending on his alleged flings could deny the children proper care.

“Hello people, my name is Ifeanyinwa. I have been married to this man, Pius Angbo of Channels Television for six years and for six years, I have not known peace in this marriage; it’s been from one woman to another. I just had a baby from a caesarean section just about four weeks ago.

“Just because I told him to spend wisely and not spend on women recklessly, considering that we have four children and will be trained, that’s why I got this beating. [He tried] to strangle me and sat on my incision. The children were crying [when he was doing these].

“When I was pregnant with [my last] child, at three months, he sat on my stomach, beat and tried to strangle me,” the woman said.

“I thought I got married to a fellow human being, but you can see my face. It is well with my soul,” Mrs Angbo said in the 2 minutes 13 seconds video.

But reacting to the video, Channels TV said it would investigate the matter, emphasising that it does not condone violence against women.

“Channels Television does not condone violence against women or anyone in general. The domestic violence matter reported against one of our reporters is being investigated and appropriate action will be taken,” the broadcast platform said.
