The need for the adoption of a cleaner, safer, and more economical alternative to traditional fuels has been emphasised by the Association of Compressed Natural Gas Dealers of Nigeria (ACNGDN).

The group is championing cleaner energy solutions in the country in commemoration of 2024 World Environment Day themed Land Restoration, Desertification and Drought Resilience – We are #GenerationRestoration.

The chairman of ACNGDN, Mr Bukola Badejo-Okusanya, said as part of the global celebration of World Environment Day, the association is dedicated to strengthening interactions with stakeholders and promoting CNG as the preferred alternative fuel for consumers.

CNG is renowned for its environmental benefits, emitting significantly fewer harmful emissions compared to traditional fossil fuels, thereby contributing to the fight against climate change and supporting the global goal of land restoration.

CNG offers substantial economic advantages, with the potential for savings of up to 50 per cent compared to conventional fuels. These cost efficiencies make CNG an attractive and financially prudent choice for Nigerian families and businesses alike.

Aligned with its mission, the Association is dedicated to raising public awareness about the benefits and safe utilization of CNG. Through targeted educational campaigns and outreach initiatives, the association aims to provide accurate information, dispel misconceptions, and foster a deeper understanding of how CNG positively impacts Nigeria’s energy landscape.

Under the leadership of Badejo-Okusanya, the group has grown from a conceptual idea into a tangible force for positive change, underscoring the significance of this initiative, stating that the establishment of the organisation is a strategic move to differentiate the group from other natural gas groups and to garner crucial government support through intervention funds and reduced pricing of raw materials.

He further emphasized that such support will directly benefit consumers, reinforcing the association’s collective commitment to affordability and accessibility as well as fostering unity within the industry.
