Business Post has been reliably informed that there would be a restriction of movement in Ikorodu town, a suburb of Lagos State from Tuesday, August 23, 2016.

A chief in the town, who begged not to be name because he was not authorised to speak with the media on the issue, told our reporter on Monday, August 22, 2016, that the curfew is to celebrate the annual traditional rites of eluku in the town.

“The traditional rites will start from tomorrow (Tuesday) till Friday. The restriction of movement is from 11pm to 5am,” the chief told Business Post on Monday afternoon.

Also, a resident of the town, who identified himself as Mr Bode Akinsanya, said the announcement has already been made to those who live in Ikorodu.

“Yes, there would be a restriction of movement in Ikorodu from Tuesday till Friday because of the celebration of eluku. It is observed yearly and always announced in the media because of those who may want to pass through Ikorodu or who do not live here,” Mr Akinsanya explained.

Meanwhile, efforts by our reporter to reach the Lagos State Commissioner for Information, Mr Steve Ayorinde, on this issue were futile as at press time.
