The choice of Mr Osarodion Ogie as the deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2024 Edo State gubernatorial election has been applauded by an Edo-born medical practitioner in the United States, Mr Phillip Igbinadolor.
The Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry described the selection of the legal practitioner, who is the incumbent Secretary to the State Government of Edo (SSG), as a welcome development, saying it was a sure sign that the party would remain in Osadebe House beyond this year.
In a statement, he said the decision of the PDP in the state was not only apt and faultless but reflects the action of a political party of goodwill desirous of ensuring that the state remains in safe hands.
“I am particularly impressed with the state Governor’s decision to field and support two illustrious and brightest sons of the state for these exalted positions.
“By his latest action, the Governor has, in my views, further demonstrated that he is an intelligent public office holder who recognizes that the first responsibility of a great leader is to find the right people and give them their right position.
“As a former commissioner in the state, former Chief of Staff to the Governor and presently the SSG, Mr Ogie is not only desirable but eminently qualified. He is miles ahead of others jostling for the position in other political parties.
“More specifically, he functioned as the engine room of the administration and democratized administrative operation in the government in ways that stripped the state and its operation of all forms of bureaucracies inherited from the outgone All Progressives Congress (APC) led government in the state,” he said in the statement personally signed by him.
While he described Mr Ogie as a grassroots politician with impeccable track record, Mr Igbinadolor argued that no politician in Edo South currently alive can match Mr Ogie, and, therefore, submitted that the senatorial district will as usual fall for party’s governorship candidate, Mr Asue Ighodalo, and Mr Ogie.
