Muslims in Nigeria have been charged to promote peace and love as they celebrate the end of the one-month fast called Ramadan.

This charge was given by a member of the House of Representatives representing Oluyole Federal Constituency in Oyo State, Mrs Tolulope Akande-Sadipe.

The lawmaker, in a message to Muslim faithful in the country on Thursday, said they must not forget to live peacefully with others as they celebrate Eid al-Fitr.

In the message made available by her media aide, Mr Olamilekan Olusada, Mrs Akande-Sadipe, who is the Chairman of the House Committee on Diaspora, also congratulated Muslims across her constituency and Nigeria at large for successfully completing Ramadan, which she described as one of the great pillars of Islam.

Not to dampen the joy in celebrating, she, however, called for intensified security and a lasting solution to the insecurity and economic hardship across the nation.

She also took the opportunity to reiterate her undaunted effort to contribute her quota as a member of the green chamber of the parliament.

The lawmaker enjoined her constituents to remember the COVID-19 guidelines as they celebrate Eid al-Fitr, wishing them a peaceful celebration.

The federal government, to mark the end of the year Muslim fast, declared Wednesday and Thursday as public holidays.
