Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory Ministerial Taskteam on City Sanitation and Traffic Management, Mr Ikharo Attah, has explained the reason behind the delay in the completion of the Dutse-Bwari road project.

Mr Attah, while speaking on Thursday, disclosed that #EndSARS protest that shook the entire country was one of the major factors for the delay.

However, he said the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) was committed to completing the project. Mr Attah was at the project site yesterday to inspect the progress.

He also restated the FCTA’s ban on roadside trading and illegal parking along the Dutse-Bwari road, vowing to arrest anyone who violates the directive.

According to Mr Attah, the Minister of FCT, Mr Muhammed Bello, is committed to removing all traffic bottlenecks for residents to have permanent relief.

Speaking on the road project, the Director Satellite Towns Development Department (STDD), Engr. Felix Nwankwo, stated that the Dutse-Bwari road project had reached 90 per cent completion and would soon be commissioned for free flow of traffic.

Mr Nwankwo said, “the road is virtually completed as it’s at almost 90%, the only thing remaining is the wearing curve and some portions with small cable works. So the traffic is going to be ok.”

Residents within the communities of Dutsen-Alhaji, Dusten-Makaranta, Sokale, Usuman Dam and Bwari town have also confirmed that the work on the roads have provided a huge relief to motorists.
