Tuesday, October 1, 2024, has been declared a public holiday in Nigeria to celebrate the country’s 64th Independence Day anniversary.
This announcement was made on behalf of the federal government by the Minister of Interior, Mr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement on Saturday.
In the statement signed by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Ms Magdalene Ajani, Nigerians were asked to “reflect on the labour of our heroes past and be inspired for the tasks ahead.”
The Minister, while congratulating Nigerians at home and abroad on this occasion, lauded their patience for the current administration of President Bola Tinubu, assuring them that their sacrifices will not be in vain.
He charged the citizens to remain as one and support the policies of the government, reminding them that “a Nigeria of our dream can only be built when we unite.”
Mr Tunji-Ojo, therefore, urged all Nigerians to continue to be steadfast in nation-building.
