Hausa, Fulani Clash In Lagos Leaves One Dead

At least one person has been confirmed dead in a fracas that broke out at an abattoir in Lagos on Wednesday.

Confirming the death of the yet-to-be identified victim, the Lagos State police said the situation was quickly brought under control due to its prompt intervention.

It said several people were injured in the clash, which occurred between Fulani and Hausa residents at the popular abattoir in the Agege area of Lagos State.

The police said it has also arrested several suspects in connection with the incident.

It was disclosed that during the pandemonium, different dangerous weapons, including broken bottles, machete and clubs were freely used by the hoodlums to inflict various degrees of cuts on their victims.

A team of policemen have since been drafted to the area to forestall any further breakdown of law and order, while the dead victim has been taken to the mortuary.

The police said it has already launched an investigation into the fracas and promised to prosecute those found culpable.
