President Bola Tinubu seems to have finally bowed to pressure and will address the nation on Sunday, August 4, 2024.
On Thursday, August 1, 2024, many Nigerians commenced nationwide protests to vent their anger over his administration’s policies, which the demonstrators say have put them in untold hardship.
The protesters, who defied threats from different quarters, vowed to remain on the streets until Mr Tinubu addresses them directly and not through his aides or Ministers.
A statement issued on Saturday by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Ajuri Ngelale, said President Tinubu would speak to Nigerians tomorrow morning.
“President Bola Tinubu will address the nation in a broadcast on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at 7:00 am.
“Television, radio, and other electronic media outlets are enjoined to plug into the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) for the broadcast.
“The broadcast will be repeated on the network services of the NTA and the FRCN at 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm on the same day,” the terse statement said.
This information may likely calm nerves and possibly make the protesters change their minds on occupying the streets and giving the federal government more time as requested in the past days.
