IBEDC Reaches Out to Families of Two Electrocuted in Ibadan

The families of two persons electrocuted in Ibadan, Oyo State recently have been contacted by the management of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC).

A statement issued by the energy company and made available to Business Post confirmed this development.

Recall that on Thursday, a commercial motorcycle rider, Mr Oladeji Olatunji Kango, was electrocuted with the passenger he was carrying along the Iwo-Adogba road of Ibadan, Mrs Kemi Adegoke.

It was gathered that while on the road, an electric cable belonging to IBEDC fell on them. They were quickly taken to a nearby health facility, where they were confirmed dead.

The incident got to IBEDC, which ordered an investigation and promised to take necessary steps to ensure such never happens again.

In the statement, the electricity distribution firm said it has contacted the families of the victims and was working with them at “this difficult period.”

IBEDC said it was deeply sorry about the avoidable death of the two persons, saying its engineers were doing safety routine maintenance.

“The management of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) Plc hereby deeply commiserates with the families of Mr Oladeji Olatunji Kango and Mrs Kemi Adegoke, who died as a result of an electrical accident that happened along Iwo/Adogba road, Oyo State.

“We are currently working with families of the deceased at this difficult period to help provide some measure of succour.

“Investigations have begun to ascertain the facts of the case, whilst all necessary protocols and reports to the regulatory authorities have been initiated.

“Our team of engineers are already carrying out safety routine maintenance to forestall such occurrences,” the statement disclosed.
