By Emmanuel Udom

Worshippers of Ifa are putting the finishing touches ahead of the celebration of their ancestors in Ogun State.

The annual global celebration is planned for August 30 and 31, 2024 in various communities across the state, Business Post gathered.

The host of the Ifa/Alaragbo Festival for 2024, Mr Salako Ifasegun, said on the phone with this reporter that the celebration is an annual event aimed at remembering, appreciating, respecting and honouring departed ancestors of the faith.

It was observed that to create more awareness ahead of the event, a large billboard has been mounted at the Coker Bus Stop along the popular Lagos/Abeokuta Expressway.

It was revealed that the celebration is expected to be held on August 30 at Ifa Salako Temple, located at Aderenle Road, around Akihanmi Area in Ifo, Ogun State.

A frontline Ifa priest, Ifakayode Salako, will be joined by others for the celebration, with prayers and others offered at the temple. This will be at the Olose Primary School ground on Olose Road, Ifo, Ogun State.

Information reaching us showed that Ifa worshippers in communities around Abeokuta, Ifo, Ewekero, Sango Ota, and other local government areas of Ogun State are preparing for the day.

For instance, an Ifa faithful resident around the Bungalow/Aiyede/Pakoto area of Ifo, Adewale Idris, handed roasted dog meat, which was slaughtered yesterday for a ritual to appease the ancestors of the religious body.

At the ECWA junction, near the U-turn/Vesper Bus Stop, the banner with the inscriptions, Odun Ifa, Ika Ogunda/Oluroponyeku festival 2024 was written, with the picture of Chief Salako Onifade, the Oluwo of Ososun, Pakoto, also inscribed on the banner.
