President Muhammadu Buhari has dismissed speculations that he was at loggerheads with Mr Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He also said it was not true that leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was at odds with the former Governor of Lagos State, describing such rumours as unfounded and mischievous.

Mr Buhari described the APC chieftain as a priceless political asset to the party whose immeasurable contributions to the development and progress of the ruling party are known to all.

The President noted that he was in regular contact with Mr Tinubu before, during and after the just concluded Ondo State gubernatorial election.

Mr Buhari, conveying his message via a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr Garba Shehu, said he was highly embarrassed by suggestions that he was at war with Mr Tinubu.

The President said any suggestions that he and the party machinery were working to destroy Mr Tinubu had no foundation in truth or any credibility, explaining that he was impressed by his (Tinubu) assurance not to work against the party in Ondo, where he said he honoured.

According to Mr Shehu, rumour mongers should stop spreading the seeds of discord and animosity between the President and Mr Tinubu or the party, adding that the President is proud of the Jagaba and his pivotal role in the party and the movement.

President Buhari commended Mr Tinubu’s spirit of comradeship in promptly congratulating Mr Rotimi Akeredolu who was elected Governor.
