JUST IN: Many Feared Dead in Felele Kogi Petrol Tanker Explosion

Several persons have been feared dead in the Felele area of Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, after a tanker conveying petrol exploded.

The unfortunate incident happened on Wednesday morning and some of the fatal casualties were school children, who were in the area when the tanker exploded.

Business Post gathered from one of the aides of Governor Yahaya Bello that the tanker fire was caused by an accident.

According to the aide, the tanker had a brake failure, crashed and exploded around the Kogi State Polytechnic, burning several people beyond recognition, including students of the school.

As at the time of filing reports, securities officials were at the scene of the explosion, while the Governor is said to be on his way to the area.

The Felele area is a very busy place in Lokoja.
