The management of Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has engaged over 200 communities to ensure prompt payment of outstanding and current bills.

This move was made to boost revenue collection and improve service delivery, according to the company’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Jamil Isyaku Gwamna.

In a statement issued by the Head of Corporate Communications at KEDCO, Mr Ibrahim Sani Shawai, it was disclosed that the role of community was key to the firm’s priority in 2021 as it hopes to strengthen engagements for more earnings.

“The initiative [is] to engage these communities to partner with us and find a way to encourage [residents] to continue to pay their outstanding and current bills in full.

“KEDCO will also engage in mass public enlightenment to members of the public in this regard,” he said.

The Kano DisCo boss stated that efforts would be intensified by KEDCO to reduce its ATC&C losses which currently stands at 48.80 per cent to the barest minimum.

He assured customers of KEDCO’s resolve to improve supply in 2021, adding that a lot of investments had been earmarked to make service delivery better in 2021.

KEDCO, which witnessed a drastic shortfall in revenue collection drive last year, is responsible for distributing electricity to three states; Kano, Katsina and Jigawa.
