The remains of the lawmaker representing Mushin Constituency 2 at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr Abdul-Sobur Olawale, have been buried.

The legislator, fondly called Omititi, slumped and died at the flag-off of the presential campaign of the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Bola Tinubu, in Jos, Plateau State, on Tuesday.

The deceased travelled from Lagos to Jos to support one of his political godfathers, Mr Tinubu, who governed Lagos State between 1999 and 2007, but he did not return to his base alive.

His body was brought back to Lagos on Wednesday at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, and was immediately conveyed to his residence in a motorcade led by the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Mr Mudashirun Obasa, and others, including lawmakers, the Lagos State Legislators Wives Association (LASLEWA), friends, family and associates.

His corpse was later taken to the Ebony Vaults for interment according to Islamic rites, where Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State and his deputy, Mr Obafemi Hamzat, joined the crowd of mourners to pay their last respect to the lawmaker, who chaired the House Committee on Local Government and Community Relations.

In a statement signed by the Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Strategy and Security, Mr Setonji David, the death of the lawmaker was described as very painful.

“This death really hit us below the belt. We will all miss him more than words can express. We urge you to join us in prayers for his family at this time,” a part of the statement said.
