The Nigerian Association of Zoological Gardens and Wildlife Parks (NAZAP) has charged the Imo State government and securities operatives to quickly secure the release of Mrs Bola Abioye from the kidnappers’ den.

The group, in a statement by its president, Mr Dipo Bali, specifically urged the Commissioner of Police for Imo State Command, Mr Mohammed Ahmed Barde, to ensure the woman is safely rescued and the perpetrators of the crime made to face the full wrath of the law.

Mrs Abioye is the wife of the former president of NAZAP and General Manager of Imo State Zoological Garden, Mr Francis Abioye.

She was abducted on Sunday, July 10, 2022, by some unknown gunmen dressed in police vests at the First Baptist Church, Nekede, Imo State.

Mr Bali, who described the development as unfortunate, condemned the kidnapping of Mrs Abioye, stressing that there was no justification for the action.

“The abduction of Mrs Abioye is an unpalatable occurrence. She is neither a politician nor a government official. She is a private person. She had just finished church service and thanksgiving when she was kidnapped, it is very sad,” Mr Bali said in the statement.

“The membership and executives of NAZAP frown at the development. We conjointly condemn it and call on all security agents in the state and indeed the country at large, including the Nigeria Police, the Department of State Security (DSS), and all others to swiftly swing into action and ensure that the woman is released without delay,” he added.
