Nigeria’s Senate President, Mr Bukola Saraki, has been directed to appear before the Intelligence Response Team of the Nigeria Police Force in Guzape neighbourhood, Abuja by 8am on Tuesday, July 24, 2018.
This directive was given by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Idris Ibrahim Kpotum, on Monday.
It was gathered that the number three citizen of Nigeria is wanted at the police station over the murder of 31 persons after an armed robbery attack in Kwara State in April 2018.
At the April 5 attack, 31 persons were killed and the suspects arrested in connection with the attack allegedly confessed to being sponsored by Mr Saraki.
Mr Saraki was previously summoned by the police in June, but the invitation was abruptly withdrawn and the top lawmaker was required to submit his response to the allegations in writing.
The lawmaker quickly responded and sent in his statement to the police.
But in a statement released on Monday night, Mr Idris asked the Senate President to appear at the force headquarters to clear the ‘grey areas’ in his statement.
