The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State has accused the state Governor, Mr Adams Oshiomhole, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of planning to tamper with results of Wednesday’s governor election in Edo State in favour of candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Godwin Obaseki.
The PDP in the state made this allegation through its Publicity Secretary, Mr Chris Osa Nehikhare, on Wednesday night.
The opposition party in Edo State further said the electoral umpire has refused to announce any ward result since voting stopped by 2pm.
“Edo PDP wishes to let Edo People know that there has been enough time for the INEC to start announcing the ward results.
“Voting stopped at 2pm and votes were counted immediately at the unit levels.
“From results made available to us, we are in a very comfortable lead.
“We are however shocked that till now no ward result has been declared.
“We are aware that APC and INEC plan to change the result at the collation centre and we wish to warn that any change to the result we are already aware of will be met with stiff resistance.
“INEC should tell Governor Adams Oshiomhole that the changing and swapping of results at the collation centre is a no-no!
“Even worse is the attempt to prevent our agents into the collation centres,” the statement said.
However, the party urged its “supporters and members to remain calm. In a few more hours, the liberation of Edo will be official.”
