Former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Mr Iyiola Omisore, has been suspended by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Mr Omisore was suspended by a faction of the party in the state over alleged anti-party activities.
Also punished by the PDP were Dr Bayo Faforiji, Bunmi Jenyo, Mr Ojo Williams and Mr Bade Falade for the same alleged offence.
A statement issued on Friday and signed by party’s Chairman in the state, Mr Soji Adagunodo and the Secretary, Mr Bola Ajao, noted that “The state executive committee received recommendation from various wards to local governments and senatorial districts, to suspend the following PDP members: Dr Bayo Faforiji, Senator Iyiola Omisore, Rev. Bunmi Jenyo, Chief Ojo Williams and Hon Bade Falade.
“In accordance with the provisions of the PDP constitution, and inherent powers vested on the state executive committee of the party, the said individuals are hereby suspended as recommended.”
According to the statement, Mr Omisore should go and clear his name from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) before seeking to participate in the affairs of party.
It would be recalled that on Thursday, a faction of the PDP loyal to Mr Omisore expelled the national secretary of the PDP, Prof. Wale Oladipo and Mr Adagunodo from the party for being involved in instituting the suit which nearly prevented the PDP governorship candidate in Ondo State, Mr Eyitayo Jegede from participating in the election.
