Oyo Governor Tests Negative for COVID-19

Oyo State Governor, Mr Seyi Makinde, has announced testing negative for the deadly coronavirus disease (COVID-19) after initially testing positive for the virus.

The Governor disclosed on Monday through his official Facebook page. he said his second test for the disease came out negative on Sunday evening.

Mr Makinde had used the same platform to announce his COVID-19 status last week, saying he was asymptomatic to the virus, meaning he does not show symptoms of the disease despite being a carrier.

He, however, went into an isolation so as not to spread the disease to others around him.

In his latest announcement, the Governor said he will be resuming his duties as head of the Oyo COVID-19 Task Force today, Monday, April 6, 2020.

He thanked everyone for their prayers and support throughout the period. He as well thanked Prof. Temitope Alonge, who acted in his stead as Head of the Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force.

Of the 232 cases of coronavirus reported in Nigeria as at April 5, 2020, Oyo State has recorded nine cases.
