Peter Obi, Atiku Celebrate Jonathan at 66

The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, has congratulated former president Goodluck Jonathan on his 66th birthday on Monday.

Mr Jonathan served as the president of Nigeria from 2010 to 2015. In 2015, he lost his bid to remain in office for a second term of four years to former president Muhammadu Buhari, who left the position to President Bola Tinubu in 2023.

A statement from Mr Obi said, “On behalf of my family, I heartily congratulate Your Excellency, Dr Goodluck Jonathan @GEJonathan as you mark your 66th birthday anniversary today. I thank God for what he has used you to do for our country, Africa, and global democracies as President and former President who continues to be a good vehicle for free, fair, transparent, and violence-free elections.”

He added that, “Your recent mission for democracy in our West African Neighbour, Liberia Where a transparent election was held, leading to a run-off.”

“God will continue to bless you for that rare patriotism that elevated our beloved country in global democracies worldwide, notwithstanding spirited efforts to undermine it,” he further said.

Meanwhile, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr Atiku Abubakar, has also celebrated Mr Jonathan on his 66th birthday.

He made this statement via his Official X handle, on Monday, saying “Happy 66th birthday to our leader and former President, Dr.@GEJonathan. You stand as a towering figure symbolizing democracy, peace, and freedom.”

“Your unwavering commitment to these ideals continues to inspire and guide practitioners of democracy, not just in the sub-region but the entire African continent,” he said.

Mr Atiku added that, “As we celebrate this remarkable milestone, I extend heartfelt wishes for your continued robust health and profound wisdom. May your journey ahead be as impactful and enriching as the legacy you’ve built.”

Lagos to Refund N141,000 to Hajj Pilgrims
