The Eagle Online Publisher Dotun Oladipo Dies at 56

Ace journalist and chief executive of Premium Eagle Media Limited, publishers of the popular online newspaper, The Eagle Online, Mr Dotun Oladipo, has died, Business Post has gathered.

The prolific journo, whose journalism career spanned over 28 years, was said to have died on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, after a brief illness.

According to reports, Mr Oladipo, 56, suddenly took ill yesterday at his office in the Ogba area of Lagos State, and drove himself to the hospital for medical attention. However, he died shortly after.

“It has just been confirmed that Emeritus President, Mr Dotun Oladipo, died today (Tuesday),” the president of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP), Mr Danlami Nmodu, disclosed.

Also confirming the death of Mr Oladipo is the General Secretary of the Innovative Media Partners Cooperative Multipurpose Society (IMPCMS), Mr Nkanu Egbe.

“It is with profound sorrow that I announce the sudden death of our President, Mr Dotun Oladipo, who passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, in Lagos, at the age of 56.

“Mr Oladipo led our cooperative with dedication, alongside a distinguished journalism career spanning nearly three decades.

“His passing is a devastating loss not only to IMPCMS but to Nigerian journalism as a whole.

“The Executive Committee will communicate further details regarding funeral arrangements, condolence visits, and interim leadership matters as they become available.

“Members are urged to keep his family and our cooperative in their prayers during this difficult time,” a statement from the group, which the deceased led while alive, said on Wednesday.

Before establishing The Eagle Online, Mr Oladipo was a former Politics Editor of PUNCH Newspapers. He also worked with Nigerian Tribune, Nigerian Compass and The Sun.
