Former chief executive of First Bank of Nigeria Limited, Mr Adesola Adeduntan, has been congratulated by President Tinubu on his installation as Balogun of Oyo.

On Saturday, September 5, 2026, all roads will lead to the ancient Oyo Kingdom for the installation of the retired banker by the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I.

In a statement on Friday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described Mr Adeduntan’s installation as “both an honour and a call to greater service.”

“I trust that you will continue to deploy your experience, influence and resources towards promoting peace, opportunity, development and the preservation of our rich cultural heritage,” Mr Tinubu stated.

He recalled Mr Adeduntan’s distinguished career in banking and finance, culminating in his stewardship as chief executive of First Bank, where he led a far-reaching transformation of one of Nigeria’s oldest and most important financial institutions.

The Nigerian leader acknowledged the Balogun’s continuing contributions to national development through enterprise, education and philanthropy, including his service as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Abiola Ajimobi Technical University.

The President also noted that, through his Adesola Adeduntan Foundation, the respected patriot has invested in modern primary healthcare centres serving the communities of Oyo and Ibadan, and in Nigeria’s solid minerals sector.

“As you assume this historic responsibility, I urge you to bring to the service of the Alaafin, the Oyo Kingdom and its people, the same discipline, strategic foresight and commitment to excellence that have distinguished your professional and public life,” he said.
