Trade Ministers of Nigeria, Egypt, Others for Africa Quality Week 2023 in Lagos

Nigeria’s Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Ms Doris Uzoka-Anite, will lead her counterparts from Egypt, The Gambia, and Zambia to the Africa Quality Week 2023 scheduled for November 27 to 30 at the Muson Centre, Lagos.

The event, themed Realizing Your Competitive Potential, is put together by the Africa Quality Academy and will bring together critical stakeholders in the quality profession.

A statement from the organisers disclosed that the expected guests for the programme include the Minister of Trade and Investment for The Gambia, Baboucarr Ousmaila Joof; the Minister of Trade and Investment for Egypt, Ahmed Samir; and the Minister of Trade and Investment for Zambia, Chipoka Mulenga.

Others are the Director-General of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Farouk Salim; the DG of the Bureau of Standards for Rwanda, Murenzi Raymond; the DG of the Tanzania Bureau of Standards, Athman Ngenya; the DG of Agence Ivorienne de Presse Cote D’Ivoire, Koné Siaka; the Managing Director of South African Quality Institute, Jaques Snyders; and the chief executive of Bureau of Standards of South Africa, Boni Mehlomakulu.

These experts and others will explore three key topics affecting the quality profession: competitiveness, people and innovation, the statement said.

It was disclosed that for this year’s event, a series of activities have been lined up to create awareness of the role and influence of quality management to organizations, nations and individuals.

According to the statement, a Walk 4 Quality Road Show will take place to raise awareness of the quality management profession.

An awards ceremony, Africa Quality Excellence Awards 2023, has also been scheduled to confer honorary fellowships to persons who have contributed to the development of quality products and services in their organisations.

In addition, there will be an exhibition to allow players in the industry to showcase their innovative products at the event.
