Catastrophe struck on Saturday at Seidu Okeleji area of Meiran, Lagos State, when a building suddenly caved in.
It was gathered that the incident left few persons dead, including a baby girl and her mother. However, three children have been rescued.
Meiran is under the Agbado-Oke Odo Local Council Development Area of Lagos State.
According to an eye witness report, the unfortunate incident during the heavy downpour today and also as voters in the area were preparing to cast their votes in the council polls across the state.
It was learnt that the tragedy claimed the lives of a 30-year old mother and her two-year old baby while washing clothes in the uncompleted storey building.
As at the time of filing this report, rescue efforts were ongoing as some people are believed to be still trapped under the rubble.
Earlier, an eye witness with the Twitter handle @lordolu1, but named Sholana Olumide, urged officials to help with rescue efforts.
“@channelstv @followlasg @lasemasocial People are still alive but trapped under a collapse building at Seidu Okeleji street, Meiran,” the post read.
