Ikeja Electric Plc has signed a  Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with two renowned Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), Kabelmetal Nigeria Plc and Nigerchin Limited, for the supply of customised electricity cables for its network.

The MoU will ensure that quality materials are provided to the company in its franchise state to allow for the effective distribution of electricity.

Speaking during the formal sign-off at the company’s corporate headquarters in Ikeja, Lagos, the chief executive of Ikeja Electric, Mrs Folake Soetan, expressed her excitement over the efforts of the companies in realising this laudable feat, saying that it was a step in the right direction.

She said the development would assist Ikeja Electric in the areas of steady energy growth as the prompt and regular supply of cables and associated materials, adding that it would help the company to clear faults and deliver faster on ongoing projects that require the same.

Mrs Soetan stated that as a customer-centric organisation, Ikeja Electronic would not rest on its oars but would continue to ensure excellent service delivery to its esteemed customers.

According to her, the strategic partnership with Kabelmetal Nig Limited and Nigerchin Limited is the first of its kind in the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI), where manufacturers would enter into a commitment to supply customised cables to a power distribution company.

She stated that the agreement would no doubt go a long way in ensuring a mutually beneficial relationship and deeper business engagements between Ikeja Electric and the two companies.

The Managing Director of Kabelmetal Nig Limited, Mr Eric Waldner, and Mr Sunil Kumar, the General Manager of Nigerchin Limited, in their remarks, expressed optimism over the signing of the agreement, noting that it was the first time they were going into such agreement with a disco, while also assuring Ikeja Electric of full support and collaboration in prompt delivery of the materials.
