On Friday, May 5, 2017, President Muhammadu Buhari showed up at the mosque inside the Presidential Villa in Abuja to observe Juma’at with other Muslim faithful.
For about three straight Federal Executive Council (FEC) meetings in Abuja, the President had been absent, fuelling speculations that his health was failing him, though his aides had always debunked this.
On Tuesday, he was said to have had a meeting with the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Mr Abubakar Malami; as well as the Group Managing Director of NNPC, Mr Maikanti Baru.
However, the next day, he missed the FEC meeting and the Minister of Information and Culture, Mr Lai Mohammed told Nigerians that the President did not attend the meeting because he was advised by his doctors to stay at home to rest.
But today, Mr Buhari attended the Juma’at with top officials in his government.
It is believed that this would put a rest to speculations that the President’s health was very serious, though his wife had said there’s nothing to worry about.
Some days ago, Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State questioned the rationale behind the President attending only Juma’at services and not FEC meetings and other state functions.
