Ex-Health Minister Babatunde Osotimehin Dies

A former Minister of Health in Nigeria, Mr Babatunde Osotimehin, has been reported dead. Mr Osotimehin’s death was announced on Monday morning at the Nigerian office of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

The deceased was the Minister of Health in Nigeria from December 2008 to March 2010.

Until his demise, the former Minister was the Executive Director of UNFPA.

Before he was appointed as Minister in 2008, Mr Osotimehin was the Director-General of Nigerian National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA), and Project Manager for the World-Bank assisted HIV/AIDS programme development project.

He was born in February 1949 and hails from Ijebu Igbo in Ogun State.
