Lagos Reveals High Risk Areas of COVID-19

The Lagos State Government has revealed the list of some high risk areas of COVID-19 cases in Lagos.

The Commissioner for Health in Lagos State, Mr Akin Abayomi, made this known while addressing the public on his routine daily Lagos COVID-19 update on the state television on Friday.

According to his announcement, Eti-Osa Local Government so far has the highest of the cases followed by Ikeja and Lagos Mainland LGAs.

Some others include: Agege, Alimosho, Surulere, and Ikorodu Local Government Areas of the state.

The COVID-19 infection statistics, according to Mr Abayomi, was given below: Eti- Osa (Ibeju axis) has 45 confirmed cases. Ikeja has 24 confirmed cases, while Lagos Mainland (Apapa-Moshood Abiola Road, Old Yaba Road) has 11 confirmed cases.

The most populous LGA in the state, Alimosho has only one confirmed case alongside Agege, with also a single confirmed case and Ikorodu also with one confirmed case.

According to Mr Abayomi, Surulere (Masha, Aguda axis) has three cases.

Other demographic details according to the Commissioner state that by sex/gender – 64 percent of the patients are males while the remaining 36 percent of the patients are females.

By age, mostly infected people are between the ages of 30 to 59 while by nationalities 91 percent are Nigerians while the other 9 percent are foreigners.

On Thursday, the state confirmed 19 cases of bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 254 in the state, the highest in the country. Five recovered cases were discharged yesterday, upping total discharged cases to 90 in the state.

Nationwide, there are 442 confirmed cases of COVID-19. 152 patients have been discharged so far with 13 fatalities on record.
