NAFDAC Deploys Three 20-Foot Trucks for Enforcement Operations
By Aduragbemi Omiyale
Three 20-foot trucks have been deployed by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to strengthen its enforcement operations.
The Director of Investigation and Enforcement (I&E) and Chairman of the Federal Taskforce on Counterfeit and Fake Drugs and Unwholesome Processed Foods, Mr Martins Iluyomade, thanked the agency’s Director-General, Mrs Mojisola Adeyeye, for providing critical operational resources to strengthen the directorate’s mandate.
The vehicles, Mercedes-Benz LK 1620, Mercedes-Benz 1414 and Mercedes-Benz 1413, were formally received by the Directorate at its Apapa, Lagos office, a statement from NAFDAC said.
The vehicles are expected to be used to support regulatory and enforcement activities nationwide.
According to Mr Iluyomade, the trucks will enhance the organisation’s ability to respond promptly to enforcement demands, particularly the movement of personnel, equipment and seized products.
The deployment comes as NAFDAC intensifies enforcement against counterfeit, fake, unwholesome and unregistered regulated products across the country.
Recall that lately, the agency has gone tough on the production of alcoholic drinks in sachets and small PET bottles, raiding shops and outlets where these products are sold.
