Ayida Replaces Alo as Berger Paints Chairman

Chairman of Berger Paints Nigeria Plc, Mr Oladimeji Alo, has resigned his appointment to pursue other endeavours.

The firm, in a statement issued yesterday, disclosed that the resignation was effective from Thursday, June 7, 2018.

Mr Alo joined the board of Berger Paints as an Independent Director on December 11, 2012 and was appointed as Chairman on July 17, 2014.

Under his leadership, the board implemented a number of initiatives aimed at strengthening the company for the challenges of competing in the 21st century.

Mr Alo is the Managing Director of Excel Professional Services, an Independent Director of ARM Life Plc and an Independent Director of the Development Bank of Nigeria.

In the statement, leading manufacturer of paints and allied coatings in Nigeria wished Mr Alo “all the best in his future endeavours.”

“In his resignation letter, Dr Alo cited as his reason, his desire to free up his time to devote more attention to his other commitments in the corporate world,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, in the same statement, Berger Paints Nigeria announced the appointment of Mr Abi Ayida as the new Chairman of Berger Paints Nigeria Plc.

On December 14, 1999, Mr Ayida was appointed as a non-executive director of the firm and he holds a Bachelors’ degree in Economics from University of Minnesota, USA and a Masters’ degree in Economics from Pennsylvania State University, USA.

He has extensive experience in the   banking, insurance, retail and manufacturing industries, in the UK, USA and Nigeria.

He is currently the Managing Partner for Vail Woodward Associates, a firm of international business development consultants.
