A former employee of Messrs KPMG Professional Services (KPMG), Mrs Pheobe Onyinye Obi, has been appointed as the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Berger Paints Plc.

Mrs Obi, who studied Accounting from Babcock University Remo, Ogun State, for her first degree, joined KPMG in 2009 and left in 2018.

While at the company, she rose to management level from senior associate, spearheading projects in Consumer Markets, adding several companies to the existing client base.

Additionally, she met and surpassed deadlines and requirements of multinational group reporting both under IFRS and local statutory reporting requirements.

Her impressive performance got her a job at Lion Seal Industries Limited, where she worked as Senior Accountant from January 2019 till March 2020, before joining the United Kingdom (U.K) based firm of Nomiworld/Sochitel Telecommunications Limited as Head of Compliance and Financial Controls in April 2020.

Mrs Obi is joining Berger Paints with 15 years of extensive local and international experience in leading Strategic Planning, Budgeting, and Corporate Finance for high-growth organisations.

The new CFO has several certifications including professional training and certificates in supervisory skills, Intermediate/Advanced Microsoft Excel and Financial Modelling, KPMG Global Risk Management Training, United Nations E-Course on Climate Change, amongst others.

A statement issued on Monday by Ayokunle Ayoko, the Company Secretary/Legal Adviser, said the board of Berger Paints has already approved the appointment of Mrs Obi as the CFO.
