President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Mr Ahmed Abubakar as the new Director-General of National Intelligence Agency (NIA).
The appointment of Mr Abubakar was made known on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 and it takes immediate effect.
He is to replace Mr Ayo Oke, who was suspended last month after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) raided a flat in Lagos where a huge amount of money was kept allegedly by his agency.
“President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Ahmed Rufai Abubakar as the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA).
“Until his appointment he was the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs/International Relations,” a statement by the presidency said.
