Cement Company of Northern Nigeria Appoints Yusuf Binji MD/CEO

Engineer Yusuf Haliru Binji has now been appointed as the new Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Cement Company of Northern Nigeria (CCNN) Plc.

This followed the exit of Mr Ibrahim Aminu, who moved to BUA Group recently.

A statement issued by the cement maker disclosed that the decision to appoint Mr Binji as the new leader of the firm was unanimously taken at an Extra-Ordinary Board Meeting of the company on August 6, 2018. It was further disclosed that the appointment of Mr Binji takes effect from September 1, 2018.

Mr Binji obtained his first degree in Chemical Engineering in 1990 from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) in Zaria. Three years later, he bagged a Master’s degree in Chemical Process Engineering with Distinction from the University College, University of London.

He became a  Fellow, Nigerian Society of Engineers (2013), Fellow, Solar Energy Society of Nigeria (2012), Fellow, Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers (2016), Associate Member, Institution of  Chemical Engineers, UK (2000).

He is also a Registered Engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).

Mr Binji’s experience spanned almost 3 decades and was a Board Member, Cement Company of Northern Nigeria PLC (2012-2013), Board Member, Sokoto Energy Research Centre, Energy Commission of Nigeria (2002-2013).

He worked with CCNN PLC and rose to the position of Executive Director Technical before he joined BUA Group as Executive Director Cement Projects Technical, and was later Executive Director Technical Obu Cement Limited (a subsidiary of BUA Group). He was appointed the as Managing Director of Obu Cement Company Limited on February 1, 2017.
