Federal Government has announced the appointment of Mr Matthew Seiyefa as the acting Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS).
This followed the sacking of the former DG, Mr Lawal Daura, by the Acting President, Mr Yemi Osinbajo, on Tuesday afternoon.
Mr Daura was removed from office after officials of the DSS prevented lawmakers from accessing the National Assembly complex today.
The former DG, after he was dismissed by the Acting President, was asked to handover to the most senior official of the nation’s secret police.
The Presidency, via its verified Twitter handle today, said, “Matthew B. Seiyefa, the most senior Director in the Department of State Services (DSS), will act as Director-General until further notice.”
Mr Mathew Seiyefa is an indigene of Bayelsa State.
Meanwhile, Mr Osinbajo has condemned the invasion of the parliament today by the DSS, describing it as unlawful.
The Acting President said all those involved in the act would be brought to book.
He said the siege on NASS was unauthorized and a gross violation of constitutional order, rule of law and all accepted notions of law and order.
According to him, the unlawful act, which was done without the knowledge of the Presidency is condemnable, and completely unacceptable.
