Journalists reporting on the insurance and pension sectors in Nigeria have elected new persons to lead them for the next two years.
At an election held at their 2022 Annual General Meeting (AGM) last Thursday in Lagos, the reporters, under the aegis of the National Association of Insurance and Pension Correspondents (NAIPCO), chose Mrs Nkechi Naeche-Esezobor as the new chairman.
Mrs Naeche-Esezobor, a respected media practitioner in Nigeria, is the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of Business Today, one of the leading business journals in the country.
After her election, she expressed her gratitude to her colleagues for finding her worthy to lead them till 2024, promising to serve them better and run an all-inclusive administration aimed to foster unity amongst members of the group.
According to her, she will focus on activities and programmes that are of significant importance to the welfare of members just as she solicited the cooperation and support of all members.
Mrs Nkechi Naeche-Esezobor also thanked the outgoing executives for their sterling performance, assuring to build on the existing legacies and foundation laid by past leaders of NAIPCO.
In his remarks, her predecessor, Mr Chuks Udo Okonta, thanked members of the group for their cooperation, saying they were instrumental to the successes he achieved during his tenure.
Mr Okonta, who is the Publisher of Inspenonline, expressed his confidence in the ability of his successor to take NAIPCO to an enviable height, tasking her to surpass his achievements.
Business Post gathered that Mrs Naeche-Esezobor would be sworn-in next month alongside other members of the executives elected by the association last week.
Also elected were Ngozi Onyeakusi, the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of Super News Online as Vice-Chairman); Rosemary Iwunze, the Insurance/Pension Editor at Vanguard as General Secretary; Edet Udoh, the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of The Revealer Online as Assistant General Secretary; Matthew Otoijagha, the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of Business Wrap Online as Financial Secretary; Adejoke Adeyemi, the Insurance and Pension Editor of News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) as Treasurer; and Amaka Obiefuna, the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of News Corner Online as Public Relations Officer.
