Katsis to Replace Giannopoulos as PZ Cussons Nigeria CEO

The board of directors of PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc has announced the retirement of Mr Christos Giannopoulos as the Chief Executive Officer of the company effective June 30, 2020.

A statement signed by the Company Secretary/Legal Adviser, Jacqueline Ezeokwelume, disclosed Mr Giannopoulos is leaving the position after occupying it for about 11 years.

In 2009, he was picked to head the Nigerian unit of the global organisation and has helped the company achieve some feats, which the board appreciates.

According to the notice sent to the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), Mr Giannopoulos joined PZ Cussons UK in July 1988 and has over the years served in various roles and functions across the business before rising to the position of the Chief Executive Officer in Nigeria in 2009.

“The board thanks Mr Giannopoulos for his service over many years,” the disclosure said.

In order not to create a vacuum, PZ Cussons Nigeria has announced the appointment of Mr Panagiotis Katsis as the new head of the firm in the country.

“Mr Panagiotis Katsis will be appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of the company effective July 1, 2020,” the statement disclosed.

Mr Katsis joined PZ Cussons Group in 1998 and has worked in a variety of senior roles including General Manager, Commercial and Deputy Managing Director, PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc. He has been Managing Director, HPZ/TEC since 2018.
