Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation has commenced the training of facilitators of N-Power Programme Verification Exercise for the beneficiaries in the state.
In her welcome address, Commissioner for the Ministry, Mrs Lola Akande, enjoined the facilitators to abide by the guidelines stipulated in the N-Power Verification officer’s manual and be diligent in the discharge of their duties.
She noted that their role and that of the Local Government inspectors were crucial to the success of the programme, adding that the National Orientation Agency would supervise the exercise while the Ministry would provide logistic support.
Earlier, the Director, National Orientation Agency in Lagos State, Mr Waheed Ishola, applauded the efforts of the State Government in providing the logistic support needed to facilitate the commencement of the exercise in the state.
He stated that his men were on ground to support the Corp members and supervise the verification exercise after which the list of qualified beneficiaries will be sent to the headquarters in Abuja.
Also, the Director Development Partnership Department, Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, Mr Oduntan Bankole, advised the facilitators to carry out the assignment to the best of their abilities as the State reposed great trust in them to deliver.
The Verification Exercise commenced from Tuesday, January 24 to Thursday, January 27, 2017 at the Main Local Government Secretariats of beneficiaries’ area of residence, between 9am to 4pm daily.
Beneficiaries are required to come along with all relevant academic credentials, NYSC discharge certificate or exemption letter, Birth certificate or Affidavit of Age declaration and valid photo ID as well as Bank account details with BVN number.
The N-Power is a job creation and empowerment initiative of the Social Investment Programme of the Federal Government.
