NAHCO Appoints Idris Yakubu Managing Director

Foremost aviation handling company in the country, the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) Plc, has announced the appointment of a substantive Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer.

A statement issued by the firm said the board of directors of NAHCO has approved the appointment of Mr Idris Yakubu as the new CEO of the company.

He is to take over from Mrs Folashade Ode, who has been the Acting Managing Director/CEO of the firm.

The appointment of Mr Yakubu, according to the statement, is with effect from Friday, November 3, 2017.

Mr Yakubu, who is happily married, hails from lkka Ajengo, Ankpa Local Government of Kogi State, and has a distinguished career and wealth of experience, spanning 28 years in Financial Management, Leadership, Strategy, Business Development, Organizational change and business renewal.

Prior to his appointment, Mr Yakubu served as Executive Director, Skye Bank Plc, after many years in Fidelity Bank Plc, UBA Plc and Continental Merchant Bank Plc, with an extensive experience in delivering agreed Strategic Business imperatives.

A consummate Relationship Manager, Team Builder and Turnaround Specialist, Mr Yakubu was a key member of the Fidelity Bank Consolidation Implementation Team between October & December 2005 serving as Chairman, Marketing and Products Sub Committee, and a key member of the Leadership Team that led the Bank to achieve the heights attained, until mid-2015.

He was reappointed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in July 2016 as a member of the Intervention Board to help stabilize Skye Bank Plc and chart its future following the dissolution of the Bank’s Board by the regulator.

Mr Yakubu holds a Masters’ Degree in Business Administration from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, a Masters Degree in Banking & Finance (MBF) from the University of Lagos, as well as a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from the University of Jos.

He attended Executive level training at Harvard Business School, USA, Oxford Said Business School, INSEAD, Wharton School and Kellog School of Management, amongst many others. He was at the Lagos Business School (Pan Atlantic University) for the Advanced Management Program in 2010.

Mr Yakubu is an Honorary Senior Member (HCIB) of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN); Member, Nigerian Chartered Institute of Management (MNIM); Member, Lagos Business School Alumni Association (LBSAA), AIESEC Alumni Nigeria, the Unijos Alumni Association, where He is National President, and lkoyi Club 1938. He is a Member, Governing Council of the University of Jos, amongst others.

Mr Yakubu is customer centric, passionate about Business transformation, Economic empowerment, capacity building initiatives, community & youth development, and helping the poor and less privileged. He is a mentor to many and a seasoned trainer, whose hobbies include reading, writing, building infrastructure, travelling, photography, meeting people, current affairs and sports.
