More encomiums have continued to pour in for fast-rising musician, Asake, who was named as the winner of the Album of the Year award at the 16th edition of The Headies.
The singer also clinched the coveted Next Rated Award at the event, which took place on Sunday, September 3, 2023, in Atlanta, the United States of America (USA).
The headline sponsor of the Headies, Airtel Nigeria, while reacting to the award won by Asake, said it was glad to be associated with him, stressing that his quick rise to fame was commendable.
“Considering the amazing quality of music that continues to come out of Nigeria and Africa, Asake has demonstrated that he is indeed at the pinnacle of his craft, even though his music career is relatively young,” the Chief Communications Officer of Airtel Nigeria, Mr Femi Oshinlaja, said.
“As a world-class organisation that always celebrates extraordinary achievements, we are proud to be associated with the success of this gifted musician,” he added.
Airtel Nigeria said its continued sponsorship of The Headies is intended to help discover and promote exceptional talents such as Asake, while also boosting the efforts of the award organisers.
According to Mr Oshinlaja, like other global creativity awards, The Headies will continue to require the support of like-minded organisations if it must live up to its greatest potential.
“The support we offer is our own way of helping The Headies reach its goal of creating a legendary award platform for the African continent,” the top official of the leading telecommunications service provider stated.
Corroborating these sentiments, Airtel Nigeria’s Head of Brands and Advertising, Ms Omobolanle Osotule, congratulated the Headies organisers on a good outing.
“The Headies is the preeminent pop music award in Nigeria, and this year’s edition was quite well-attended and impressive. We can look forward to more collaboration with the Awards,” she said.
Asake won the Next Rated Award for being the most promising new act to emerge in the year under consideration, and the Album of the Year with his debut, Mr Money with the Vibes.
Other winners were Rema, Odumodublvck, Diamon Platnumz, Blaqbonez, Labianca Fonji, Simi, Adekunle Gold, Spyro, Tiwa Savage, and Burna Boy, among others.
