The pan-African reality competition series, GRIT, has produced a debut winner, and she is Dawyne, going home with the N37.2 million cash prize.

The programme, an initiative of Faaji Productions, held viewers glued to YouTube since its premiere on July 3, 2026.

After an eight-episode run that carried the show from its first night inside the GRIT Residence to a finish few could have called at the outset, Dawnye emerged victorious to the delight of lovers of the contest that climaxed last Friday.

The finale brought the season’s storylines to a close, with the remaining contestants facing a final round of physical and mental tests before the show’s closing vote determined its ultimate winner.

Dawnye’s win caps a season defined by high-stakes challenges, shifting alliances, and the kind of character-driven drama that GRIT was built to deliver — hosted by Ini Dima-Okojie and filmed in Kenya.

“Watching GRIT come full circle, from that first night in the Residence to Dawnye lifting the trophy, has been an incredibly emotional journey.

“This season proved that African stories, told with ambition and craft, can hold their own on any stage.

“Dawnye’s win is a testament to resilience, and I’m so proud of what this cast and crew built together over these eight episodes. This is just the beginning for GRIT and for Faaji Productions; we’re already looking ahead to what comes next,” the founder of Faaji Productions, Ms Oyinkansola Owoyemi, said.

With its debut season now complete, Faaji Productions says it is turning its attention to growing the GRIT universe further — building on the partnerships, audience, and format established this season as the show looks toward future seasons and an expanding slate of premium unscripted content.
