From Friday, November 14 to Sunday, November 16, 2025, the Lagos Cultural Weekend will hold at iconic sites across the state, including the J. Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture and History, Freedom Park, National Theatre, Badagry Heritage Museum, Lekki Arts and Crafts Market, and Tafawa Balewa Square.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr Idris Aregbe, said the theme for the three-day festival for this year is Advancing and Celebrating the Spirit of Our Heritage.

The Lagos Cultural Weekend is designed to celebrate Nigeria’s heritage and creativity. It is part of the state’s cultural mission to showcase Lagos as a global cultural hub.

The event will feature live music, traditional dance, fashion shows, culinary tastings, craft demonstrations, art exhibitions, and hands-on workshops. Symposiums and cultural lectures will also provide deeper insights into Lagos’ identity and history.

Performances from diverse local groups, storytellers, and cultural icons will highlight the city’s unique ethnic mix and creative spirit, Mr Aregbe stated.

“The Lagos Cultural Weekend will be a cultural baptism – an authentic introduction to who we are. Beyond showcasing traditions, it’s about investing in artisans, creatives, historians, and cultural custodians to drive engagement and economic growth,” he said.

The aide to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu noted that through strategic partnerships and community participation, the Lagos Cultural Weekend aims to strengthen the state’s creative economy while giving visitors a genuine taste of Nigerian culture.
