NAFCA Awards Postponed To November

NAFCA awards

The Nollywood and African Film Critics’ Awards (NAFCA) earlier billed to hold on Saturday, September 17, 2016, has now been moved to November 2016.

A statement issued on Thursday by President and CEO of NAFCA Inc, Dr Victor Olatoye, disclosed that the ceremony was postponed because there are two African cultural events in Los Angeles with date overlapping with NAFCA Hollywood 2016, which he feels will cause much inconvenience to the attendees and some honourees planning to attend these prestigious awards this year.

“Pursuant to constant requests by our fans to change the award month, we permanently changed the NAFCA month to November because we do understand that it is not always all about us and as responsible corporate citizens we listened and made the switch to avoid any conflict. This positive change we believe will broaden our fan base,” Olatoye said in the statement.

He explained further that, “Our title corporate sponsor would need more pre-award promotions and we feel in order to add value to their sponsorship dollars we would need to shift the date.”

“Finally, we are excited to announce that the prestigious NAFCA will have its first broadcast by a major television network and the available date available for this milestone is in the month of November,” he further said..

Concluding, Olatoye said, “We thank you for your corporation and understanding. We apologize for needing to change the award date and for any inconvenience that this permanent change might create.

“You will be blown away by what NAFCA has in store for you and what awaits you at NAFCA Hollywood 2016 as we celebrate our rich African culture and heritage through film. We will be announcing the exact date and the host/s very soon. Please direct all inquiries to”
