By Modupe Gbadeyanka

An attempt is being made by a Nigerian gospel singer to break the Guinness World Record for ‘longest officially released song’.

The gospel act trying this break this feat is Chika Nwaogu, who is better known as St. Chika.

He wants to release a gospel song of 3 hours, 30 minutes, 50 seconds on iTunes, Amazon.com, Spotify and Google Play.

If this is eventually down, Chika would displace current holder of the record, the PC III label Pipe Choir (USA), which released a song spanning 3 hours, 1 minute and 50 seconds on August 16, 2015.

To make this a reality, St Chika is hitting the studio in Lagos on Saturday, April 7, to record a single titled ‘Power in the name of the Lord.’

As soon as the production is completed, the musician has promised to release the new tune on digital stores like iTunes, Amazon.com, Spotify and Google Play.

The 27-year-old contemporary singer, songwriter and recording artiste is a graduate of Physics Science from the University of Lagos.

He started singing, playing the instrument and writing his own songs when she was eight and draws his inspiration from gospel acts like Travis Greene, Nathaniel Bassey, Eben, Joe Praize and Sinach to mention a few.
