Nigerian Idol Season 9 Premieres April 21 With 9ice, Others as Judges

The highly anticipated Season 9 of the prestigious Nigerian Idol will premiere on Sunday, April 21, 2024, with the trio of 9ice, Omawumi and Ric Hassani as judges.

Omawumi was a guest judge on the show in Season 7, while 9ice and Ric Hassani are making their debuts.

The show has rested the regular judges of the programme, Simi, D’banj and Obi Asika, for this year’s edition, but has retained IK Osakioduwa as the host.

A statement from MultiChoice, the organiser of the music talent hunt programme, disclosed that Nigerian Idol Season 9 will air at 7 pm on all Africa Magic Channels – Showcase (DStv ch. 151, GOtv ch. 12), and Family (DStv ch. 154, GOtv ch. 2). The live performances are expected to begin from Sunday, May 26, 2024.

“Nigerian Idol has continuously set the standard for music talent shows in Africa, and Season 9 promises to be no exception.

“With Omawumi, Ric Hassani, and 9ice on board, viewers can expect unparalleled talent, excitement, and entertainment.

“We are proud to showcase the immense musical prowess that Nigeria has to offer and look forward to another unforgettable season,” the Executive Head of Content and Channels: West Africa for MultiChoice, Ms Busola Tejumola, stated.
